Concrete mixed with anti-sulfate erosion preservative boasts properties such as corrosion resistance, freeze-thaw resistance, high strength, effective barrier against harmful substances, low shrinkage and high water-reducing rate. This preservative can be used to enhance the durability of buildings in coastal areas. Concrete, especially that used in coastal regions, is susceptible to erosion by corrosive substances like sulfates, which will impair the durability of buildings. However, this problem can be avoided by adding the said preservative into concrete. The addition of anti-sulfate erosion preservative can effectively prevent harmful substances from penetrating into the interior of concrete and thus protect it from erosion. Compared with traditional concrete anti-corrosion methods (e.g., surface coating technology, increasing the thickness of protective layer, using sulfate-resistant cement, and adopting high-strength concrete), the application of anti-chloride ion erosion preservative demonstrates superiorities in terms of concrete corrosion resistance, durability, steel bar protection, construction environment restrictions, curing technology and later-stage protection costs.
